While one group of petitioners is asking for the exam to be postponed till normalcy returns, another group is asking for the apex court’s intervention to ensure that the exams are not postponed. Times Now conducted a poll to ask what people want. Should NEET 2020, JEE Main 2020 and JEE Advanced 2020 be postponed? The answer was a resounding yes.

As many as 12, 672 respondents participated in the poll. Of the total, 11, 002 or nearly 87% respondents were in the favour of postponing the entrance examinations. Currently two separate pleas have filed in the Supreme Court. A group of students have approached the apex court, asking the exam dates to be postponed till normalcy return – citing safety concerns during the pandemic. Soon after the plea, a group of parents from Gujarat have approached the Supreme Court, asking it to intervene and ensure that the NEET, JEE Mani 2020 examinations are not delayed any further.

As per the parents association, the constant delay in the examination is detrimental to the mental health of the students. Parents have also raised concerns over the loss of the academic year. Already, with the delay in the examination dates, the academic year, which usually begins in July, has been postponed by four months.
